The Blossom Development Trust is charity that helps children and young people with special and additional needs. It was founded in 2012 by Jacqui McNaughton, who was inspired to do so because of her journey with her eldest son, Daniel. Jacqui's experience as a mother navigating the challenges and triumphs of raising a child with Autism fuelled her passion to create Blossom, aiming to provide support and resources for others in similar situations. Blossom is now run by three trustees, together with a committed group of volunteers who generously and freely give their time to the charity.

Daniel was diagnosed with Autism at age 3. He is non-speaking and has a lot of struggles with his body and health. Jacqui and her husband David found that there was little to no support available for them to help Daniel manage his communication, body, medical and sensory issues, and they had to seek help privately for the therapies that they found to help Daniel.
To assist other families in similar situations, Blossom was born to provide essential treatments and services for children and young people with conditions like Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and many other additional and special needs. Blossom helps families access services such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, nutritional plans, educational programmes, and also can provide technical equipment that may be needed. Blossom's aim is be able to fund whatever is needed that will enhance quality of life, independence skills and to increase the abilities of children and young people to engage meaningfully with their families, peers and local communities.
